OBSERVATIONS FROM THE SENEGALESE LIGUE 1 2014-2015

* Current top scorers in the Senegalese Ligue 1 2014-2015:

3 goals

Aristide Simon Diedhiou – Diambars

Lamine Fanné – ASC Diaraf

Mamadou Niang – ASC Niary Tally

Mouhamed Sene – Olympique de Ngor

2 goals

Aliou Badji – Casa Sports

Baye Gadio Cissé – US Ouakam

Seyni Diagne – US Ouakam

Mamadou Aly Diouf – ASC La Linguère

Kingsley Elechi – Guédiawaye FC

Mouhamadou Lamine Kané – ASC SUNEOR

Sory Keita – AS Douanes

Abdoulaye Ndiaye – ASC Niary Tally

Alioune Ndiaye – ASC Diaraf

Ousmane Lamine Ndiour – Stade de Mbour

Ugochukwu Nwachukwu – Guédiawaye FC

David Sambou – ASC SUNEOR

* Check out this interesting video of top scorer Aristide Simon Diedhiou of Diambars:

* Powerful, athletic striker Mohamed Remi Gomis (b. 24.11.1990) is back in Senegal and ASC La Linguère after two seasons abroad. In 2012-2013, Gomis played 8 games (0 goals) for Portimonense SC at second level of Portuguese football. In 2013-2014, Gomis played for Tunisian second level side ES Béni Khalled. Gomis is the player on the picture, found on ndarsports.blogspot.com.

* Right-back Valentin Keny is a player to watch at ASC La Linguère. Keny is such a consistent performer who hardly ever misses a match.

Pape Sangoné Sarr (b. 07.07.1992) of AS Pikine is currently training with FC Zürich (Switzerland). In my opinion, Sarr is the best player in the Senegalese league. The versatile playmaker is comfortable as an attacking midfielder, winger or striker. Sarr, formerly of ASC Jeanne d’Arc and Renaissance Dakar, scored 8 goals in 22 games for AS Pikine during the Senegalese Ligue 1 2013-2014. Sarr is 172 centimeters and 75 kilos.

* Veteran goalkeeper Matar Deme (b. 08.08.1980), arguably one of the top three goalkeepers in the Senegalese Ligue 1, has joined Mbour Petite Côte from Yeggo Foot Pro. Deme will fight another veteran goalkeeper, Ousseynou Ndiaye (b. 15.07.1982), for the number one shirt.

* Mbour Petite Côte (formerly known as Touré Kunda de Mbour) has signed the highly experienced defender Pascal Mendy (b. 11.01.1979). Mendy, who has a handful of full international matches for Les Lions de la Teranga, the Senegal national football team, is primarily a right-back, but is also comfortable at left-back. Mendy played for Dinamo Moskva (Russia) from 2003 to 2006, and for FBK Kaunas in Lithuania in 2007 and 2008. Between 2010 and 2013, Mendy has featured for three different clubs from Belarus; FC Partizan Minsk, FK Dinamo Brest and FK Torpedo Zhodino. On 31.12.2014, Mendy scored his first goal for Mbour Petite Côte.

  1. Hello, I noticed Guédiawaye FC has two Nigerian players. Ugochukwu and Elechi, nice development. African football needs for foreign players exchange.
