TOP SCORERS IN THE IVORIAN LIGUE 1 2012-2013

zougoula-470x260Most teams in the Ivorian Ligue 1 2012-2013 have now played 22 matches. In this post, I will present a list of top scorers, including basic player information.

13 GOALS

KOELLY KEVIN ZOUGOULA – SÉWÉ SPORT

* From my point of view, it can not be questioned that Zougoula is the best striker in the Ivorian Ligue 1. Zougoula, a petit front-runner with tremendous pace, is a consistent goalscorer in Ivorian football, having scored nine goals for ASC Ouragahio in 2010, 11 goals for Séwé Sport in 2011 and 10 goals for Séwé Sport in 2012.

The picture is of Zougoula and was found on votresanpedro-ci.com.

10 GOALS

ZOUMANA KONÉ (born 27.10.1991) – AS DENGUÉLÉ

* Koné is the star player at AS Denguélé and a key member of the Ivory Coast B national football team. The current season has been his best ever, both in terms of goals and consistency. Koné is a strongman and a nightmare to defend against. Koné can play as a main striker, or in a support striker / attacking midfield role. From my point of view, Koné is ready for a mid-level European club.

9 GOALS

JEAN SERGE SERY DOGO (born 01.02.1981) – SC GAGNOA

* Sery Dogo is the playmaker and dead-ball specialist at SC Gagnoa. Sery Dogo, formerly of ASC Ouragahio, has scored some wonderful free-kicks this season. Sery Dogo is primarily an attacking midfielder or striker.

8 GOALS

CHEICK MOUKORO (born 12.06.1991) – AFAD DJÉKANOU

* Moukoro, the playmaker of AFAD Djékanou, is truly excellent when he can roam freely behind the strikers. Moukoro has sublime skills and is dangerous from set-pieces. From my point of view, Moukoro is ready for a mid-level European club.

MOHAMED VIEIRA SANOGO (born 31.07.1993) – AFRICA SPORTS

* Sanogo is one of the most interesting youngsters in the Ivory Coast. The lanky, 19-year old striker is hard-working, mobile, strong and surprisingly good with the ball in his feet.

7 GOALS

JEAN FRANCIS KASSI MALAN – SC GAGNOA

* Veteran striker Kassi Malan scored six goals during the first six matches of the season. After 13 matches without a goal, Kassi Malan was back at the scoresheet on 27.04.2013. Kassi Malan is a smart player with a lot of strenght and enthusiasm.

GAUTIER KOFFI (born 29.01.1991) – ASEC MIMOSAS

* Koffi is currently on fire, having scored seven goals in the last eight matches. Interestingly, Koffi, traditionally a right-back, has been moved to a more attacking role and is primarily found at the right-wing. Before the current season, Koffi had played 28 matches (0 goals) for ASEC Mimosas. In 2010, Koffi played for Sabé Sport de Bouna.

YAYA KONÉ (born 25.12.1991) – AS DENGUÉLÉ

* Pacy striker, formerly of Adzopé FC and ASC Ouragahio. Koné is definitely one of the revelations of the season.

BOMMANIN PEGGY KOHOUO (born 16.11.1990) – JEUNESSE D’ABIDJAN

* Kohouo, formerly of Africa Sports, is the main striker at JCAT. Kohouo is a hard-working, mobile striker who can score from any angle. If Kohouo can improve his finishing, he could be heading for bigger leagues.

KOFFI KAN TOBIE OLIE (born 22.09.1984) – AFRICA SPORTS

* Experienced striker who has played for Zamalek (Egypt), AS Salé (Morocco) and Darnes (Libya). Olie is strong as a bull and difficult to beat in the air.

6 GOALS

ROGER ASSALÉ (born 13.11.1991) – SÉWÉ SPORT

* Assalé, a striker or left-winger, is one of the biggest talents in the Ivorian league. Assalé is pacy, skilful and hard-working. From my point of view, Assalé deserves a chance in a bigger league.

5 GOALS

KOFFI DAVY BOUAH (born 20.09.1986) – ASEC MIMOSAS

* Bouah is a striker or winger, formerly of Issia Wazi FC, known for pace, hard-work and clever finishing. Bouah has played 17 matches so far this season, including 7 substitute appearances.

THOMAS GONAZO BI (born 30.12.1990) – JEUNESSE D’ABIDJAN

* Gonazo Bi is a consistent goalscorer in the Ivorian league. The striker or right-winger is a former player of ASC Ouragahio.

LUC HERVÉ KOUASSI BLÉ (born 20.10.1989) – SO ARMÉE

* Unfortunately, Kouassi Blé is a rather unknown player to me. Four of his five goals were scored during the first four matches of the season.

PHILIPPE OKAN AGOUSSI (born 05.06.1992) – ASEC MIMOSAS

* Okan Agoussi is the target-man at ASEC Mimosas. The big centre-forward, formerly of SO Armée, has played 13 matches, including one substitute appearance. As far as I know, Okan Agoussi has been struggling with injury for the last couple of months.

JACQUES ALAIN TANOH (born 16.09.1987) – STELLA CLUB D’ADJAMÉ

* Tanoh is a speedy, energetic striker who leads the attack at Stella Club. If Tanoh is able to improve his goal-rate, I would recommend him for trials at bigger clubs.

4 GOALS

EDEM KOUAMÉ AKROFI (born 18.07.1990) – USC BASSAM

* Ghanaian striker Akrofi is one of the star players at USC Bassam, well-known in the Ivory Coast for his pace, work-rate and impressive goal-scoring rate.

INZA DIABATÉ (born 20.05.1992) – ES BINGERVILLE

* From my point of view, Diabaté is the best player at ES Bingerville. Diabaté, formerly of ASEC Mimosas, dictates the attacking play of the team from an attacking midfield role.

FERNANDEZ GRAGNE – SC GAGNOA

* Gragne made an impressive start to the new season, playing up-front for newly promoted CO Korhogo. During the mid-season transfer window, Gragne joined the more ambitious SC Gagnoa. He has scored three goals for CO Korhogo and one goal for SC Gagnoa.

N’GNA YAO KOFFI (born 19.01.1990) – AFAD DJÉKANOU

* After a couple of uneventful seasons, the lively Koffi, comfortabel in various attacking roles, is back in top form.Koffi’s talent is unquestioned.

KABRAN STEVENS KOFFI FOBA (born 12.08.1989) – ASEC MIMOSAS

* Last season, Koffi Foba, an attacking midfielder or left-winger, was a star player at league winners Séwé Sport. Koffi Foba has done well at ASEC Mimosas, perhaps without excelling. The petit playmaker has played 19 matches so far this season, including eight substitute appearances.

ISSA SANOGO (born 11.08.1992) – AFAD DJÉKANOU

* Talented striker Sanogo, who started his professional career at AFAD, had a breakthrough season at CO Korhogo in 2012, helping the side won promotion to the Ligue 1. Sanogo is now back at AFAD and is one of several interesting strikers fighting for a starting place in the team.

FRANCK SÉOULOU DJESSEKAN (born 15.11.1986) – JEUNESSE D’ABIDJAN

* Séoulou Djessekan is an experienced attacker, formerly of ASC Ouragahio.

KORÉ MAIXENT ZAGRÉ (born 06.04.1986) – ASI ABENGOUROU

* Big, powerful centre-forward, formerly of Issia Wazi FC, ASEC Mimosas and Stella Club d’Adjamé. Zagré is an experienced player and a key performer at ASI.
