SOLA ADEBOYE

At Shooting Stars FC, left-back Mutiu Adeleke, goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye, plamaker Philip Asuquo or striker Gbolahan Salami usually steals the headlines. From my point of view, midfielder Sola Adeboye should also be added to this list of key players at 3SC.

Adeboye has been described as a “utility midfielder” or a “hard-working defensive midfielder”. Adeboye seems to prefer the central midfield role, often operating as a “box-to-box midfielder” with tough tackling style and the energy to support the offensive and defensive play of his team. Adeboye is effective when he anchors the midfield, dictating the pace of the game and spreading passes to his teammates.

Apparently, Adeboye is a product of the Pepsi Football Academy. Adeboye featured for Bussdor United FC during the National Division One 2008-2009, the second level of Nigerian football. Adeboye joined Shooting Stars FC during the Nigeria Premier League 2009-2010. Apparently, Adeboye made his top level debut against Zamfara United FC on 09.01.2010.

During the Nigeria Premier League 2010-2011, Adeboye featured regularly. On 24.07.2011, Adeboye scored his first top level goal against Crown FC.

The Nigeria Premier League 2012 turned out to be a breakthrough season for Adeboye. In a season where Shooting Stars FC tried out numerous players, Adeboye was a consistent performer, captaining his team in a couple of matches. Adeboye failed to score during the Nigeria Premier League 2012.

According to Sunday Tribune, Adeboye was 18 years old in May 2010, suggesting that he is born in 1991 or 1992. According to 2muchsports, Adeboye is born 06.08.1992. In other words, it seems highly likely that Adeboye is 20 years old at the time of writing.

Adeboye is born in Modakeke in south-western Nigeria. As far as I know, his full name is “Gabriel Dada Adesola Adeboye”. Adeboye is sometimes referred to as “Shola Adeboye”, “Sola Adeboye Dada” or “Gabriel Dada Adeboye”.

I have read several reports from various Shooting Stars FC matches and it is remarkable how often Adeboye is praised for his performances.  In November 2011, Adeboye travelled to Albania for trials. Personally, I think Adeboye should aim higher.

The picture was found on MTN Football. Adeboye is the player in blue.
