On 03.03.2013, Geraldo Selom scored his first ever top level goal in his second match for his Liberty Professionals FC. There is reason to believe that the young striker could be a diamond in the rough.
Selom is born 23.06.1993. He is predominantly right-footed and is primarily a striker or attacking midfielder.
Selom hails from Agbeve in the Volta Region of Ghana. As far as I know, Selom was playing for amateur club Accra United FC in 2008 and 2009. As far as I know, Selom joined the well-run Red Bull Academy in 2010. In June 2010, Selom was named in a Red Bull U-17 squad for an internation friendly tournament. Selom made his league debut for the Red Bull Academy in March 2011, during the Division One League 2010-2011, the second level of Ghanaian football.
In November 2011, Selom was part of the Ghana U-20 national football team, playing an international friendly match against the reserve team of Italian side Parma FC. Selom was a second half substitute and appearantly, his performance was rather impressive. According to Ghanasoccernet, Franco Colomba, the former coach of Parma FC, described Selom as a player with great potential. The author of the article writes that Selom is 15 years old, suggesting that he is born in 1996. The birthdate 23.06.1993 is taken from the official homepage of the Red Bull Academy, in my opinion a very trustworthy source.
In any case; it seems obvious that Selom made something right in Italy. In April 2012, Italian side Vicenza Calcio invited Selom for a youth tournament in Italy. Based on match reports I have read, Selom was largely impressive.
Recently, I believe Selom has participated in training sessions with various Ukrainan sides, including FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
Obviously, a European move has not yet materialized, which is good news for Liberty Professionals FC. I am excited to follow Selom in the continuance and I think he will score more goals.
Selom is sometimes referred to as “Geraldo Selorm”, “Gerald Selorm” or “Gerard Selorm”. His correct name is Geraldo Selom.
