Ghana U-20Earlier today, promising striker Ebenezer Assifuah FC sensationally scored four goals when Liberty Professionals FC won 5-1 against Berekum Chelsea FC during Week 13 of the GLO Premier League 2012-2013. Assifuah has scored six goals in 12 matches during his first ever season at top level of Ghanaian football. All six goals have been scored during the last six matches.

Assifuah caught headlines during the Division One League 2011-2012, the second level of Ghanaian football. Apparently, Assifuah was playing for Eleven Wise FC of Sekondi. In August 2012, MTN Football, usually a realiable source, wrote that Assifuah was actually on a loan deal at Eleven Wise FC and that he was contracted to an amateur club called Proud United FC. Proud United FC is based in Kasoa, not far from Cape Coast in the southern part of Ghana.

According to, Assifuah scored eight goals during the Division One League 2011-2012. According to MTN Football, Assifuah scored “20 goals in all competitions”. It is a fact that Eleven Wise FC scored 15 goals during the 14 matches they played in “Zone 2B” so I think the piece of information found on makes the most sense.

In any case; Assifuah had an impressive season and in July 2012, Assifuah was picked for the Black Satellites, the Ghana U-20 national football team. Assifuah scored one of the goals when Ghana U-20 won 3-0 against Uganda U-20 on 11.08.2012. The match was a qualifier for the 2013 African Youth Championship. Ghana U-20 finished the qualification with style and it seems likely that Assifuah will spearhead the attack of Ghana U-20 during the tournament, perhaps together with red-hot Francis Narh of Tema Youth FC. The tournament is scheduled for 16.03.2013 to 30.03.2013.

According to, Assifuah signed a three-year deal at Liberty Professionals FC during the late summer. On 14.10.2012, Assifuah made his top level debut for Liberty Professionals FC. His first goal for his new club was scored against Medeama SC on 11.11.2012. This was Assifuah’s sixt match of the season.

Assifuah has been described as a “nimble footed forward”. He is not the tallest of players but has a lot of strenght and pace.

Both and MTN Football agree that Assifuah was 18 years old in the period August 2012 – October 2012, making it most likely that Assifuah is born in 1994.

Assifuah’s ful name is apparently “Ebenezer Assifuah-Inkoom”. His name has been written in numerous ways, including “Ebenezer Assaquah”, “Ebenezer Assafuah”, “Ebenezer Attafuah” and “Ebenezer Asafoah”.

A player able to score four goals against a quality side such as Berekum Chelsea FC deserves attention. Assifuah is definitely a player to watch closely during the next couple of months. The picture, showing players of Ghana U-20, was found on MTN Football.
