In this post, I will present the exclusive list of 14 players that I know has been “ever-present” during the first half (15 matches) of the GLO Premier League 2011-2012 in Ghana. There are also 7 players on the list, marked with *, that have most likely played all 15 matches, but where I am missing 100 percent accurate statistics.

Club: Berekum Arsenal FC

DOB: 26.03.1991

Position: Central defender

* The captain of struggling Berekum Arsenal FC is one of the most promising central defenders in the league. Acheampong has scored one goal this season.

Club: Bechem United FC

DOB: 27.07.1986

Position: Striker

* If Bechem United FC manages to avoid relegation, experienced goalpoacher Addai deserves a big part of the credit. Addai, a burly centre-forward, has scored six league goals so far this season.

Club: Heart of Lions FC

DOB: 09.04.1989

Position: Left-back / Right-back

* Addy, a former player of AshantiGold SC, has made the left-back his own during his first season at Lions. No league goals so far during the season but numerous overlapping runs.

Club: Heart of Lions FC

DOB: 25.12.1984

Position: Right-winger / Attacking midfielder

* “Tico-Tico” is the captain of Lions and his importance for the youthful team can not be undervalued. Amoah is a skillful player with several tricks up his sleeve. He has, somewhat dissapointingly, failed to score during his 15 matches.

Club: Ebusua Dwarfs

DOB: Unknown

Position: Winger / Attacking midfielder / Striker

* Arthur, often found on the left-wing, is a tall, hard-working player who has been a revelation since joining Dwarfs from New Edubiase United FC. He has scored twice so far this season.

Club: Berekum Chelsea FC

DOB: 06.03.1987

Position: Central midfielder / Winger

* Asante has not been brilliant and expectations were perhaps too high for a player who broke through in the rather unfashionable league in Burkina Faso for top club ASFA Yennenga. Nevertheless, the playmaker has impressively managed to play every match for Chelsea, a club that seems to prefer a rotation system. Asante has yet to score for his new club.

Club: Ebusua Dwarfs

DOB: 17.09.1984

Position: Striker / Support striker / Attacking midfielder

* The experienced Asiedu, often captaining Dwarfs, has yet to score this season but the strong, intelligent player is nevertheless a key player. Apparently, Asiedu wants to leave the club during the mid-season transfer window. He will be sorely missed.

Club: Tema Youth FC

DOB: Unknown

Position: Central defender

* A quiet and effective central defender who was a key player when Tema Youth FC won promotion last season. Attamah has yet to score his first league goal at top level of Ghanaian football.

Club: Heart of Lions FC

DOB: 28.08.1991

Position: Striker / Winger / Support striker

* Bonsu never seems to stop running and he causes a lot of problems with his mobility. However, he needs to work with his finishes as he has only scored once so far this season.

Club: Asante Kotoko FC

DOB: 04.05.1985

Position: Central defender

* Brenya is a powerful and intelligent centre-back and the captain of Asante Kotoko FC. His understanding with his colleague Mohammed Awal has been impressive this season. An experienced performer in Ghanaian football. Brenya has not scored this season. The picture is of Brenya and is taken from

Club: Berekum Chelsea FC

DOB: 30.08.1987

Position: Striker

*The athletic and lively Clottey, arguably the best striker in the league, has scored seven league goals and will be hoping for a professional contract in Europe during the mid-season transfer window. In my opinion, Clottey is too good for the GLO Premier League.

Club: Ebusua Dwarfs

DOB: Unknown

Position: Right-back / Right-winger / Central midfielder

* Cole, a quiet and rock-steady performer at right-back, was included in the squad of the Ghana B national football team in January 2012. Cole is a skillful, attacking-minded player but he has yet to score a goal this season.

Club: Wa All Stars FC

DOB: 10.11.1990

Position: Goalkeeper

* Dabuo, a former member of Ghana U-20, has been first choice goalkeeper at Wa All Stars FC for six seasons despite being only 21. Dabuo always looks confident and his shot-stopping ability is top shelf.

Club: Tema Youth FC

DOB: Unknown

Position: Central midfielder

* The midfield maestro of Tema Youth FC is about to become a truly brilliant player. His accurate passes and impressive work-rate should make him interesting for bigger clubs in a matter of time. Mensah was training with the Ghana U-23 national football team during 2011. Mensah has yet to score at top level of Ghanaian football.

Club: AshantiGold SC

DOB: 21.05.1989

Position: Central midfielder / Attacking midfielder

* The creative midfielder is the engine of AshantiGold SC and a great distributor of the ball. Mohammed has scored one league goal so far this season.

Club: Liberty Professionals FC

DOB: Unknown

Position: Central defender / Defensive midfielder

* I am very impressed with the way Kingsley Nteng has been able to bring his career back on track after several injury-plagued seasons, especially the GLO Premier League 2009-2010. Nteng was a key player for Aduana Stars FC before the club won promotion to the top level of Ghanaian football and expectations were high when he joined Liberty Pros. However, it is not before the current season Nteng has been able to cement his place in the team. Nteng is strong as a bull and is often shielding the central defenders playing just behind the midfielders. He is not very attacking-minded and has yet to score for Liberty Professionals FC.

Club: Aduana Stars FC

DOB: 02.11.1987

Position: Central midfielder / Defensive midfielder / Full-back

* Opare is a hard-working midfielder with mostly defensive duties. He rarely gets in front of goal and has not scored so far this season. One of the unsung heroes of Aduana Stars FC, perhaps the most disciplined teams in Ghana.

Club: Wa All Stars FC

DOB: Unknown

Position: Left-back

* Otoo has excelled at left-back with his strong running and enthusiasm. Otoo has one league goal to his name this season.

Club: Hearts of Oak SC

DOB: 06.02.1992

Position: Striker

* The teenage striker is arguably the most exciting player at Hearts of Oak SC. Otoo has often been used as a lone striker and I am sure he would benefit from an experienced partner up-front. Otoo has scored five goals so far and he is on the radar of several bigger clubs outside of Ghana.

Club: Asante Kotoko FC

DOB: 29.11.1974

Position: Goalkeeper

* Veteran Soulama, the former full international goalkeeper of Burkina Faso, has been remarkable consistent this season. His positioning and reflexes are top standard. Surprisingly, Soulama is one of only two goalkeeper on the list.

Club: Wa All Stars FC

DOB: Unknown

Position: Central defender

* Rock-solid central defender who joined Wa All Stars FC from King Faisal Babes before the GLO Premier League 2010-2011. No league goals so far this season.
