LIGUE 1 SENEGAL – GOALSCORERS 2010-2011

In this post I will present lists of goalscorers per today, at a time when most teams had played seven matches of the 2010-2011 Ligue 1 in Senegal. There are remarkable few goals in Senegal and hopefully this will improve later in the season.

I have also presented one player at each team, not necessarily the best player or the most interesting player, but a player that is important to his team.

CASA SPORT

Aliou Coly 2, Alouise Thiaw 2, Assane Dramé 1, Abdou Sagna 1, Own Goals 1.

* From my point of view, Casa Sport is one of the most interesting teams in Senegal. Midfield general Stéphane Badji, top striker Emile Paul Tendeng and the talented attacker Aliou Coly have all been presented in previous posts. Left-winger / midfielder Abdou Sagna has for several years been regarded as one of the most promising players in Senegal. Sagna, most likely born in 1990 or 1991, played for Senegal U-17 in 2006 and Senegal U-20 in 2008. His coach at Casa Sport, Demba Ramata Ndiaye, recently explained that Sagna is an amazing talent, but that he could improve his disciplinary record. Sagnar has been compared to El-Hadji Diouf, both due to style of play and personality. Sagna had a disappointing 2010-season but is now back in top form and was in January 2011 included in the squad of the Senegal U-23 national football team. At the time of writing, Sagna has played 5 matches and scored 1 goal in the 2010-2011 Ligue 1.

ASC DAHRA

Abdou Latif Guenoune 2, Khaly Diakhaté 1.

* Playmaker Fidel Gomis was an important player when ASC Dahra won promotion to the Ligue 1 after the 2010-season. He has made a promising start to the 2010-2011 season and is an important member of the team.

DAKAR UNIVERSITÉ CLUB

Cheikh Ndiaye 2, Pape Alioune Diouf 1, Fadel Fall 1, Babacar Niang 1, Abdoulaye Touré 1.

* The young central defender Diarga Fall has been ever present this season. A player to watch.

ASC DIARAF

Abdou Khadre Dieylani Fall 1, Djibril Sidibé 1.

* Pape Amadou Touré (born 24.12.1991) has for years been regarded as a highly gifted left-back, both for his club and the Senegal U-20 national football team. I am surprised that Touré, a modern-style full-back, is still playing in Senegal.

AS DOUANES

Abdoulaye Sané 2.

* Center forward and top goalscorer Abdoulaye Sané was training regularly with the Senegal U-20 national football team in 2010.

US GORÉE

Seydou Kane Sall 2, Yally Fall Guene 1, Ousmane Mbengue 1.

* Seydou Kane Sall is a talented striker, born 06.04.1991, signed from ASC Saloum after the 2010 season.

GUÉDIAWAYE FC

Ibrahima Birame Coundoul 1, Abdoulaye Dieng 1.

* Ibrahima Birame Coundoul (born 15.08.1988), the central midfielder and captain of Guédiawaye FC, is arguably the most important member of the team.

ASC HLM

Mamadou Dieye 1, Alioune Fall 1, Pa Amadou Gai 1.

* The player to watch at ASC HLM is obviously the talented left-back Adiouma Gaye (born 05.12.1992). Gaye played all three matches for the Senegal B national football team during the CHAN-tournament that is currently being played in Sudan. Gaye is a former member of Elite Foot de Dakar and the Senegal U-20 national football team.

ASC JEANNE D’ARC

Pape Alioune Badara Diouf 1.

* ASC Jeanne d’Arc are struggling hard to score goals and are currently rock-bottom on the table. On the positive note, Jeanne d’Arc have one of the best goalkeepers in Senegal in the experienced Bity Sy (born 06.08.1987), a regular member of the Senegal B national football team for several years.

ASC LA LINGUÈRE

Sérigne Cheikh Diouck 2, Mohamed Remi Gomis 2, Thierno Niang 2, Matar Guissé 1, Cheikh Abass Sané 1.

* Watch out for youngster Thierno Niang! The tall and powerful striker took his chance with both hands when Sérigne Cheikh Diouck and Moussa Dembélé was in Sudan with the Senegal B national football team. As far as I know, Niang is only 16-17 years old.

ASC NIARY TALLY

Aziz Ba 1, Mohamed Niang Fadel Diop 1, Abdou Lahat Fall 1, Yoro Lamine Ly 1, Abdoulaye Seck 1.

* Yoro Lamine Ly (born 27.08.1988) is a brilliant attacking midfielder / playmaker who played all matches for Senegal B in the CHAN-tournament. Ly is a former player of AS Douanes and the Senegal U-20 national football team.

US OUAKAM

Pape Koukpaki 3, Sadio Diao 2, Karifa Kourouma 2, Pape Seyni Touré 1.

* Karifa Kourouma from Guinea has been a revelation at US Ouakam, the current leaders in the Ligue 1 2010-2011. Kourouma is primarily a left-winger / attacker and is known for his speed and dribbling.

AS PIKINE

Alioune Boubacar Ba 1, Robert Francois Badiane 1, Boubacar Dieng 1, Adama Mbaye 1.

* Right-winger / striker Adama Mbaye (born 18.12.1984) is arguable the most valuable member of the team. Mbaye was part of the Senegal B national football team for the CHAN-tournament, but was pretty much a fringe player, playing only one of three matches.

CSS RICHARD-TOLL

Khalifa Ababacar Badiane 1, Boubacar Toumany Diop 1.

* Boubacar Toumany Diop (born 30.12.1985) is the captain of the team. The striker has been a key member of CSS the last years and scored three goals in the 2010 season.

TOURÉ KOUNDA DE MBOUR

Mamadou Thiam 4, Pape Moussa Konaté 2, Ibrahima Diakhaté 1, Ibrahima Faye 1.

* The young playmaker Dame Diop is one of the most interesting prospects in Ligue 1. Diop is a strong and creative midfielder who currently plays for the Senegal U-20 national football team.

His qualities is cleary shown in this short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lySvz4Eki4

ASC YAKAAR

Sega Diop 2, Boubacar Gassama 1, Own Goals 1.

* Pape Abdou Diakhaté has been a key member of ASC Yakaar ever since the club won promotion to the Ligue 1 after the 2005-season. Diakhaté was a member of the Senegal U-23 national football team in 2006-2007 and was regarded as a quality striker a couple of seasons ago. Fans of Yakaar will be hoping that Diakhaté is able to find his old self but his experience is nevertheless valuable to the young team.
