In the modern game, full backs have often a more offensive role than is the case traditionally. Africa is a continent bursting with talented full backs that fit well into this profile, including Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo of Cotonsport FC of Garoua. Oyongo Bitolo could very well become Cameroon’s next big star at left back position. I first noticed Oyongo Bitolo in May 2010, when he was included in the squad of Cameroon U-20. Oyongo Bitolo was then playing for a club called Musango FC, sometimes referred to as “Moussango FC”. Musango FC is a football club from Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroo, owned by former professional footballer Bertin Ebwellé. Ebwellé was interestingly himself a gifted left-back and played several full international matches for Cameroon, including five matches in the 1990 World Cup.  As far as I know, Musango FC does not participate at any of the three highest levels of Cameroonian football and I think it basically is a football training center for young footballers. They apparently have one of the best junior football teams in the country.

Oyongo Bitolo joined Cotonsport FC, arguably the biggest club in Cameroon, in August / September 2010.

In October, Cameroon U-20 grabbed a ticket to the Orange African Youth Championship that will be played in Libya in March / April 2011. Oyongo Bitolo has been a regular member of the team since his first inclusion in May.

When the MTN Elite One 2010-2011, the top level of Cameroonian football, started on 13.11.2010, Oyongo Bitolo started the match for Cotonsport FC, a team consisting of several experienced quality players at this level.

Oyongo Bitolo is sometimes referred to as “Oyongo Bitofo”. His date of birth is still unknown to be but it seems probable that he is about 18 years old.

Rostand Kako is the star striker of Panthère Sportive in the MTN Elite One and is widely regarded as one of the pillars of the team. He is known for his physical presence and is a handful for any defense, being well-built at 187 centimeters and 78 kilos. He is also a good dribbler and strong in the air. Kako is born 22.03.1990 according to sources I find trustworthy.

Kako scored 4 league goals for Matelots de Douala in 2008-2009. During the season, he has included in the squad of Cameroon U-20 for the first time. After the season, he switched to Panthère Sportive, arguably a much bigger team the Matelots. I can document that Kako scored 3 league goals during the season but several goalscorers are still unknown. It seems probable that Kako scored at least another 3-4 league goals for his club during the season. Kako has been named in the squad of Cameroon B several times during 2010, but competition for a starting place in the team has proven to be tough.

Kako was strongly linked to Cotonsport FC during the 2010-2011 pre-season. Several sources actually reported that he signed for the champions. However, the facts are that Kako played for Panthère Sportive on 21.11.2010 against Astres de Douala.
