5 goals – Bala MANU – experienced striker born 19.11.1984. Former Plateau United FC.

4 goals – Ifeanyi OKORO – lanky attacking midfielder or left-winger, born in 1984. A very important player Gombe United FC the last couple of seasons.

4 goals – Jelly YEKINI – one of the finds of the seasons for Gombe United FC. Played for Prime FC in 2007-2008.

3 goals – Alhaji KWARANGA – hard-working midfielder born 28.12.1987. Key player for Gombe United FC and member of Nigeria B during 2010.

3 goals – MacMarcel OBIOHA – unknown player to me.

2 goals – Ibrahim ABDULLAHI – unknown player to me.

2 goals – Edward BEWARANG – unknown player who reportedly signed for newly-promoted Plateau United FC before the new season.

1 goal – Mohammed ISA – defender who was part of the preliminary squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2007.

1 goal – Victor MICHAEL – striker who scored 4 goals for Gombe United FC in 2007-2008, failed to impress for top club Enyimba FC in 2008-2009 and was back with Gombe United FC in 2009-2010.

1 goal – MIKE – the goalscorer against Ranchers Bees FC in Round 21 is unknown to me.

1 goal – SAMUEL – the goalscorer against Lobi Stars FC in Round 32 is unknown to me.

Two goals are missing – one goal against Warri Wolves FC in Round 4 and one goal against Bayelsa United FC in Round 23.


7 goals – Bello Musa KOFARMATA – fast right-winger or striker born 12.05.1988. Scored 11 goals for Kano Pillars FC in 2007-2008, 4 goals in 2008-2009 and 4 goals in 2009-2010, before signing for Heartland FC in the middle of the season. Highly regarded and a regular member of Nigeria B.

7 goals – John OWOERI – quality winger / striker born 13.01.1987. A former professional for Feyenoord Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and KVC Westerlo (Belgium). Will apparently sign for Ismaily (Egypt) at the next transfer window.

3 goals – Uche AGBA – left footed and clever attacking midfielder who signed for CS Sfaxien of Tunisia halfway in the season.

3 goals – Emeka NWANNA – right-winger born 25.10.1982. Apparently the first player to be paid one million naira in the domestic scene when he was bought by Enyimba FC from Enugu Rangers International FC.

2 goals – Signs CHIBAMBO – full international striker for Zambia. En excellent dribbler and a hard running attacker. Former ZESCO United FC and Nakambala Leopards in Zambia. Born 17.07.1987.

2 goals – Chinedu EFUGH – hard-tackling central defender born 30.03.1986. A former captain of Enugu Rangers International FC. Widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Nigerian football.

2 goals – Joshua OBAJE – left-footed attacker / left-winger. Regular scorer in the 2009 Champions. League. Trialist at Lillestrøm SK (Norway) in January 2010.

1 goal – Gabriel ADIKWU – youngster signed from Kogi United FC.

1 goal – Kennedy CHINWO – right-back born 29.12.1985. Has apparently signed for Kwara United FC before 2010-2011. Played professionally in Moldova from 2005 to 2008, for FC Tiraspol and FC Sheriff Tiraspol. A regular member of the different youth-sides of Nigeria since 2002.

1 goal – Joseph JACKSON – experienced left wing-back from Ghana. Member of Ghana U-20 back in 2002. Former Heart of Lions FC and AshantiGold SC.

1 goal – Elvis KINGSLEY – experienced midfielder born 27.05.1982. Described as a creative player with speed, skills, excellent passes and a good shot.

1 goal – Okechukwu NWADIKE – bulky and skilful attacker, also known as Okey Nwadike.

1 goal – Emeka ONUOHA – the former goal-poacher of Enugu Rangers International FC has yet to find his scoring-boots for Heartland FC. Born 10.06.1988.

1 goal – Chibuzor OZURUMBA – a petit striker with tremendous pace. Former Sharks FC, Akwa United FC, Iwuanyanwu Nationale FC and Enyimba FC. Probably born in 1985.

1 goal – Bill SHERIFF – Liberian midfielder / attacker, born 31.01.1987. Former Black Star FC of Liberia.

1 goal – Ike THANKGOD – in my opinion the best central defender in the Nigerian Premier League. The powerfully built defender is born 04.04.1985 and deserves a chance in a bigger league than the Nigerian. Has performed very impressive in the African Champions League both in 2009 and 2010.

1 goal – Julius UBIDO – skilful winger / attacker, born 08.06.1988. Former Lobi Stars FC.

1 goal – Kingsley UDOH – central defender or right-back, born 07.12.1990. Was one of the heroes for the Golden Eagles, the Nigeria U-17 national team, in the 2007 World Cup. One full international match for Nigeria, against Sudan on 09.01.2008.


10 goals – Jude ANEKE – one of the revelations of the Nigerian Premier League. Was completely unknown before the season but ended with double figures, eight of his goals coming in the second half of the season.

6 goals – Bola BELLO – central midfielder born 28.11.1984. Arguably the most important player of Kaduna United FC, being the engine of the team. Former Sharks FC and Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt.

4 goals – Peter OBIORAH – regarded as the top striker of Kaduna United FC at the beginning at the season and was missed when he joined Enugu Rangers International FC for the second half of the season. Scored 5 goals in 2008-2009. Did not manage to score for Rangers this season.

3 goals – Yusuf SIMEON – important attacker who scored 6 goals in 2008-2009.

2 goals – Efe AMBROSE – towering central defender or defensive midfielder born 18.10.1988. Joined Israeli side FC Ashdod after the season and will be sorely missed. Ambrose was member of the Flying Eagles, Nigeria U-20 , at 2007 FIFA World Cup in Canada. He also participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics for the U-23 side.

2 goals – Sani ARUWA – a tall and lanky striker, formerly of Heartland FC.

2 goals – Shaibu BABANGIDA – unknown player to me.

2 goals – Femi Emmanuel BALOGUN – talented attacker who was part of both Nigeria U-17 and Nigeria U-20 during 2008.

2 goals – Emmanuel BIVAN – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Chinedu AGWU – the veteran goalkeeper of Kaduna United FC scored on a penalty in Round 1 against Wikki Tourists FC. Has played for several clubs in the Nigerian Premier League the last ten years, including Dolphins FC, Heartland FC and Kwara United FC.

1 goal – ALHASSAN – the goalscorer in Round 12 against Gombe United FC is unknown to me.

 1 goal – Yusuf BATURE – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Papa IDRIS – central defender born 27.07.1989. Often named captain of the team.

1 goal – Abdul Malik MOHAMMED – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Timothy NDUBUISI – striker, formerly of Zamfara United FC.

1 goal – Sunday ROBERTS – unknown player to me.


18 goals – Ahmadu MUSA – probably the biggest talent produced in the Nigerian Premier League for several seasons. Born 14.10.1992, he has just turned 18. Musa will apparently join Dutch side VVV Venlo in the near future. Musa has already made his full international debut for Nigeria A and looks set for a wonderful career. Musa is a dazzling winger / striker who played for JUTH FC in 2008-2009, scoring 3 goals in his first season at this level.

8 goals – Mohammed GAMBO – a big, strong striker, blessed with great aerial power. Born 10.03.1988. Has been a consistent goalscorer for the last couple of years.

4 goals – Bello Musa KOFARMATA – disappointed the fans of Pillars when he decided to join Heartland FC in the middle of the season. A fast right-winger or striker born 12.05.1988.

3 goals – Usman ABBA – the former attacker of Zamfara United FC had a promising first season at Kano Pillars FC.

2 goals – Victor NAMO – powerful striker born in 1989. Has performed well in the African Champions League but has struggled to score goals in the league. A player with a great reputation, I personally think he soon will blossom.

2 goals – Moses OGAGA – this energetic, right-sided attacking midfielder is one of the longest serving players at the club, born 03.08.1987. Hard-running player who is a very important member of Pillars.

2 goals – Solomon OKPAKO – versatile midfielder born 01.05.1990, described as a player full of energy who is willing to cover every blade of grass on the field. Regular member of Nigeria B. Joined Panionios in Greece a few months ago.

2 goals – Joseph Atang THOMPSON – attacking midfielder born 14.02.1989. Very creative and skilful. Has previously played for Cotonsport FC in Cameroon, as well as for Enyimba FC.

1 goal – Rabiu ALI – playmaker at central midfield. One of the dead-ball specialists at the team.

1 goal – Nafiu IBRAHIM – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Gabriel IKECHUKWU – central defender who performed well in his first season for Pillars.

1 goal – Sheriff ISA – attacker born 10.11.1990. Was member of Nigeria U-17 at the 2007 World Cup, scoring three goals at the tournament. Often used in a more supporting role for Pillars.

1 goal – Mohammed Shehu SHAGARI – tall, aggressive midfielder, known for his excellent left-foot. Born 29.11.1990.

1 goal – Own Goal against Zamfara United FC in Round 3.

1 goal – Own Goal against Lobi Stars in Round 18.
