SPECIAL REPORT – LIST OF SCORERS IN THE NIGERIA FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2009-2010 (PART FIVE)

SUNSHINE STARS FC

7 goals – Ibrahim Abubakar BABALE – arguably the most consistent forward in the Nigeria Premier League. Babale is usually a guarantee for double figures. Known for his great hold-up skills. Left footed player, formerly of Wikki Tourists FC. Trialist at FC Lyn Oslo (Norway) during 2008.

6 goals – Dele OLORUNDARE – the revelation of the season. Talented striker, formerly of FC Abuja and Nasarawa United FC.

5 goals – Godfrey OBOABONA – the experienced captain of Sunshine Stars FC.

4 goals – Ganiyu ANIFOWOSHE – tricky attacker born 03.02.1985. A former professional in Azerbaijan for Göyazan Qazax and Olimpik Baku.

3 goals – Fuad Gbolahan SALAMI – one of Nigeria’s most talented strikers, born 15.04.1991. Key player for Nigeria U-20 in 2008-2009, playing at least 13 international matches scoring at least 5 international goals from July 2008 to September 2009.

2 goals – Gbenga AJALA – experienced centre forward or supporting striker known for his skills and close ball control. Former Nasarawa United FC, Dolphin FC Port Harcourt, Lobi Stars FC and Ranchers Bees FC.

2 goals – Emmanuel SUNDAY – talented midfielder, formerly of Gombe United FC.

1 goal – Mohammed Tijani ADAMU – defender, most likely the former defender of Gombe United, born 22.05.1984. Often just referred to as “Tijani Adamu”.

1 goal – ADEIFE – the goalscorer in Round 35 against Dolphins is unknown to me.

1 goal – Sunday ADEYEMI – the former Zamfara United FC ace was one of the hottest strikers in Nigeria in 2008-2009, being part of Nigeria B and signing for top club Enyimba FC.  

1 goal – John GAADI – scored a penalty goal against Kano Pillars in Round 36. Gaadi is an experienced goalkeeper, born 03.03.1982. Formerly of Gombe United FC, Enyimba FC and Wikki Tourists FC. Joined Sunshine Stars FC from Lobi Stars FC in the middle of 2009-2010.

1 goal – Dayo OJO – mobile striker.

1 goal – Sarafa USMAN – midfielder, formerly of Kwara United FC.

Four goals are missing – two against Gombe United FC in Round 30 and two against Gateway FC in Round 37.

WARRI WOLVES FC

 9 goals – Ekigho EHIOSUN – highly-regarded striker, probably born in 1989. Trialist at Stabæk IF (Norway) in January 2009. Scored 7 goals in 2008-2009 according to my statistics. Former Delta United FC.

9 goals – Fegor OGUDE – attacking midfielder / striker born 29.07.1987. Signed for Norwegian side Vålerenga IF in August 2010. A quality player who was top goalscorer for Wolves when they was promoted in 2007-2008 and scored 6 goals in his first season at top level in 2008-2009. Has been part of Nigeria A and Nigeria B during 2010.

4 goals – Oke AKPOVETA – talented striker, born in 1991 or 1992. Trialist at Odd Grenland (Norway) in July 2010. Described as a player with a good shot and strong skills.

4 goals – Gift ATULEWA – left-footed striker, born 01.04.1986. Played for Nigeria U-20 in the “FIFA U-20 World Cup 2005″. Member of Nigeria U-23, January 2007. Former Bayelsa United FC.

3 goals – Michael OKOYE – 1991-born playmaker who is arguably one of the key players of Wolves. An interview is found on http://naijaligue.blogspot.com/2009/07/wolves-can-win-premier-league-next.html.

3 goals – Efe YARHERE – hard-working striker who has been with Wolves for several years.

2 goals – Abdallah GUINDO – striker from Mali, formerly of Bamako-based Jeanne d’Arc FC.

2 goals – Ebuka OKAFOR – talented winger, member of Nigeria U-17 in 2009.

2 goals – Ejike ORJI – scored two goals in Round 1 of the seasons but struggled to add to his tally. Former FC Abuja.

2 goals – Mbachu TOCHUKWU – talented striker, formerly of Enyimba FC.

1 goal – CHARLES – the goalscorer in Round 25 against Ranchers Bees FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – OKOYE – the goalscorer in Round 37 against Kaduna United FC was either Ifeanyi Okoye or Michael Okoye.

1 goal – Ifeanyi OKOYE – after performing well for FC Abuja in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009, the attacker was signed by Warri Wolves FC in January 2010. Apparently born 06.01.1990.

1 goal – Goodluck ONOMADO – the tough talking captain of Warri Wolves FC.

1 goal – ROBERT – the goalscorer in Round 37 against Kaduna United FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – Omonigho TEMILE – experienced midfielder born 30.10.1984. The peak of his career so far was scoring 7 goals for Levski Sofia in Bulgaria in 2003-2004. Spent several seasons for Krylia Sovetov Samara in Russia. Is mostly used at the right-side.

1 goal – Own Goal against Ocean Boys FC in Round 17

1 goal – Own Goal against Kaduna United FC in Round 37.

Two goals are missing – both against Gateway FC in Round 29.

WIKKI TOURISTS FC

11 goals – Rabiu Yusuf BAITA – right-winger born 28.08.1984. Former Paris Saint-Germain FC(France), RAEC Mons(Belgium), KAA Gent(Belgium) and National Bucuresti(Romania). Played for the Super Eagles a couple of times between 2002 and 2004. Member of Nigeria B, November 2008.

3 goals – Peter GYANG – petit striker, formerly of JUTH FC. Was part of Nigeria U-20 and Nigeria U-23 in 2008.

2 goals – Babatunde AREMU – striker who is also known as “Tunde Aremu”. Was a trialist in Hungary in January 2009 and was 20 years old at the time.

2 goals – Precious OSASCO – talented left-back.

2 goals – Otanwa OTANWA – experienced midfielder born 03.10.1984. Former Enyimba FC and Akwa United FC.

1 goal – Tony ALEGBE – center back or central midfielder born 10.10.1981. The experienced player spent several seasons in Ukraine.

1 goal – Ahmed ALIYU – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Moses DANIEL – the left-winger was part of the preliminary squad for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, February 2008.

1 goal – Gabriel EBUTE – striker, formerly of Lobi Stars FC.

1 goal – Chimaobi JAMES – unknown player to me.

1 goal – James MMAJU – skilful striker who joined Heartland FC during the season. Former Akwa United FC.

1 goal – S. MOHAMMED – the goalscorer in Round 30 against Ranchers Bees FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – Tasim MOHAMMED – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Nura NAKARGO – apparently the captain of Wikki Tourists FC. Member of Nigeria U-20 during 2008.

1 goal – Peter NSIMA – striker, signed from Zabgai FC of Bauchi.

1 goal – Japhet OGWU – unknown player to me.

1 goal – Taofeek OYE – right-back, formerly of Prime FC. Member of Nigeria B, November 2008. Member of the preliminary squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2007.

1 goal – SULE – the goalscorer in Round 26 against Zamfara United FC is unknown to me.

Six goals are missing – three goals against Heartland FC in Round 28 and three goals against Bayelsa United FC in Round 32.

ZAMFARA UNITED FC

5 goals – Austin KADIRI – central defender and arguably the most important player of Zamfara United.

5 goals – Ghazali MOHAMMED – midfielder / attacker born 20.05.1985. Formerly of Assyut Petrol(Egypt).

3 goals – Uraya ANDREW – the striker was one of the revelations of the season.

2 goals – EBINUM – the goalscorer in Round 21 against Warri Wolves FC and in Round 34 against Niger Tornadoes FC is unknown to me.

2 goals – Austin EKPOMA – signed for Niger Tornadoes FC during 2009-2010.

2 goals – Ibrahim KABIRU – apparently the captain of the team. Named in the preliminary squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2007. Former Enyimba FC.

1 goal – Ibrahim DANLAMI – key-player and midfielder.

1 goal – EHODA – the goalscorer in Round 33 against Enugu Rangers is unknown to me.

1 goal – MOHAMMED, A – the goalscorer in Round 25 against Enyimba FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – MOHAMMED, L – the goalscorer in Round 21 against Warri Wolves FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – MOHAMMED, M – the goalscorer in Round 38 against Heartland FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – Jerome UKASHANG – unknown player to me.

1 goal – YUSUF – the goalscorer in Round 8 against Kaduna United FC is unknown to me.

1 goal – Ibrahim ZOKORA – unknown player to me.
